Cleric strips off clothes in Oyo

A cleric, whose name was given as Timothy, has gone insane in Oyo State while trying to cure a mentally challenged man known as Tunde.

The incident occurred on Thursday at Tunde's haunts, near Ososami Junction of Oke-Ado, in the capital city of Ibadan.

A shop owner in the vicinity, who gave his name as Semiu, said that the cleric met mentally challenged man while he was sitting in front of a building in the area, laid his hand on Tunde's head and started reading the bible to him.

"At a point, there was a hot argument between the duo, which made the pastor to raise his voice as he was offering a deliverance prayer for Tunde, the mad man," he said. "The hot prayer lasted for over 15 minutes before another strange drama began."

"The mad man removed the pastor’s hand from his head, and suddenly a strange spirit got hold of the pastor and he began to remove his cloth. He was naked and laid flat on the ground, speaking a strange language, with foam oozing out of his mouth."

The development attracted a crowd who gaped as the two men sat close to one another, mumbling to themselves.

It was gathered that police officers later arrived the scene and took both men away.
