Babatunde Fashola Blasts Stella Oduah

Lagos State governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has said that the two armoured cars bought at the cost of N255 million for the Minister of Aviation, Mrs. Stella Oduah, will purchase 51 patrol vehicles for the Nigerian Police. The governor said this at the 7th annual Town Hall Meeting on Security, themed: ‘Sustaining Local Responding To Rising National Security Challenges,’ held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos. “It is sad to know that the Federal Government that allocate three patrol vehicles for one state police command of 370, 000 police men, is unable to resolve how N255 million was used to purchase 2 saloon vehicles for one officer. It is a very grave irony. “The cost of average vehicle needed to patrol the state is just N5 million. And with such fund, we will have put at least 51 patrol vehicles on the road, patrolling the streets of Lagos.” “In spite of all this, they resist the idea of a state police. The money from the fund was in the last one year used to provide vehicle…

N/Delta Militants Give Benin Republic Authorities 48hrs To Release Asari-Dokubo

The Niger Delta People’s Volunteer Force, NDPVF, has warned Nigeria’s tiny West African neighbor, Benin Republic, to free its leader, Mujahid Asari Dokubo or be ready to incur its wrath.
The NDPVF, a former militant group founded by Dokubo, issued the warning in a statement signed by its leaders, Mr. Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro in Abuja last night, following Tuesday’s arrest and detention of the former militant leader by Benin’s gendarmes (police) in an unknown location.

It would be recalled that radical lawyer, Festus Keyamo, had alerted the nation to the arrest of Dokubo on Tuesday afternoon in Cotonou and lamented that since then, he had been kept incommunicado as his location remained unknowned. But Dokubo’s arrest by the authorities was likened to a kidnap by the NDPVF, which said it was appalled by the unprovoked breach of the fundamental rights of the youth leader. It said: “We hold this arrest as an absurdity. It is unprovoked and questionable and has been without any reason from the gov…

National Identity card to become ATM, travel card

Abuja -  The new national identity card can be used as Automated Teller Machine (ATM) card anywhere there is MasterCard logo in the world, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has said. NIMC’s Director of Technical Services, Mr Emmanuel Ogungbe, told Journalists  on Thursday in Abuja that the commission had already signed an agreement with MasterCard. “As opposed to just being an ID card, the card is also a cash card. What that means is you can also use it the way you currently use your ATM card. *The old National Identity Card “So if you put money on the card, you can withdraw this money anywhere in the world. “Two, it’s also a travel card. What that means is that very soon, especially within the West African sub-region, you can travel passport-free as long as you have this card with you. “So this card has multi-purpose use and that is why we are calling it a general-multi-purpose card, it’s not just an ID card.” According to him, all that a holder of the card needs to do is t…

INCREDIBLE PHOTOS: 1,6km-Long Floating City With Schools, Hospital, Parks, Airport For Its 50,000 Residents

Seasick sufferers look away now. A Florida-based firm has designed a floating city called Freedom Ship that would spend its entire time at sea.

The vessel is a mile long, 25-storeys-high and has enough room for 50,000 permanent residents. It features schools, hospitals, art galleries, shops, parks, an aquarium, casino and even an art gallery as well as an airport on the roof and a docking bay at the rear.
Designed by the Florida-based Freedom Ship International (FSI), the floating city is set to cost $10 billion and weigh 2.7 million tonnes – making it too large to ever dock. The ship would spend the whole time at sea, circling the globe once every two years, powered by solar and wave energy
