As police hunt for a criminal known as the "skull cracker", here is a look at other suspects on the run. Michael Wheatley, who got his nickname for pistol-whipping victims during bank robberies, is on the run after beging given temporary leave from an open prison in Kent. Wheatley, who is due to serve 13 life sentences, has been spotted in Twickenham, south-west London. Spain and Cyprus are popular places for Britain's wanted men to flee to when avoiding justice and both have been dubbed Costa del Crime. This rogues' gallery is made up of alleged offenders and convicted criminals who are on the run.

Robert Mortby Robert Mortby, from London, is suspected of attempted murder for an attack on a man outside a pub in south London.

Christopher Mealey Christopher Mealey, from London, is accused of being a member of a cocaine smuggling ring. Police suspect the gang were involved in smuggling the class A drug into the UK from the Netherlands.

Daniel Bowes Daniel Bowes, from London, is accused of being a Mr Big in a cocaine smuggling ring. He is suspected of being a go-between between the gang leader and delivery drivers.

David Hewson David Hewson, from Liverpool, is thought to be in Spain having admitted conspiracy to supply cocaine. He was sentenced to 11 years in prison in his absence for masterminding drug deals on Merseyside.
