“The hottest club in Abuja is mine” - Sunny Ade Son

Suni Osorun a.k.a Blackwallstreet is no doubt an international producer and actor. He has worked with the likes of The Game, 50cent, Lil Wayne to mention a few. He is amongst the big names when it comes to A-list shows and concerts in Abuja and this hardworking and creative showbiz impresario doubles as the son of JUJU music maestro and Nigerian music icon King Sunny Ade. We caught up with Blackwallstreet at his posh Abuja residence where he revealed to us his bag of tricks and what to expect from his stable in the future. This is the new generation, check it out!

Please introduce yourself

My name is Suni Blackwallstreet

Can you tell us about Blackwallstreet?

You know Blackwallstreet has a slogan "you live for everything and die for nothing". Blackwallstreet is a record company and it’s an entertainment movement; we got a couple of artistes in America and we just signed a brand new deal with a Nigerian artiste, Klever Jay. Blackwallstreet and Avatar just signed Klever Jay for the brand new deal that comes with a brand new car and a house and some pocket money and stuff like that.

Why did you guys go for Klever Jay?

He is an artiste that has got potential and I like his style because I am a producer so I decided I can bring out the best out of him. He did it before on his own anyway; you know he got like two hits "Koni Koni Love" and "igboru ti daru". It’s been a while and though he went so low we decided that okay we got a brand new song that is called "Omo aiye" that we just brought out. The video has been shot.

How do you tend to produce and manage the artistes?

You know I am not an investor; I am an actor as well so I combine everything because that is what I studied in school. That is the entertainment, so I produce hits, you know platinum jobs like The Game. Under Blackwallstreet we do a lot of hit tracks, it is not new to me it is what I do on a daily basis. It is different from someone that doesn't know much about it, they are just investors or just promoters and they don't know what music is all about they just want to take the money. But I got a passion for it that is why I help a lot of upcoming artistes, I have a program called "Blaizing mic". I am on season 13 now. Most of the artistes that pass through it get better by the day like the guy that represented Abuja at the Nigerian Idol, which is Jayfeel. He came under Blaizin Mic. I have been investing in a lot of upcoming artistes trying to help their carriers.

You seem to be a good host to most top Nigerian artistes in Abuja, How do you get to bring the big names?

You know like all of them are my colleague even though am a bit older than most of them we have respect for each other so when I ring them that I own a club and I want them to come they come. We have fun and everybody goes. So most of the artistes call me up and say baba we want to come to your club, and like most of the artistes in Nigeria have been in my club. As we are talking right now the hottest club in Abuja is mine. When you do stuff right and show all your people love, and don't disrespect anyone in the industry, they will show you love as well. Some people will call the artiste that I want you to come and the artiste will charge them two million like the incident that happened with Kcee. Someone was offering him 1.6m to come to their club but I gave him what he deserved, took care of his flight and he came and we had fun, the same thing with Terry G and yesterday we did Ruggedman. Why they do that is not because I am Suni it is because I show them love and they know what I can offer them.

You come from a musical background; did that have a major influence on your production?

Yes I come from a big music background; we got ear for music that is why most of the music we do are hits. "My life" and "One blood" by The Game are international tracks that I produced. I know music when I hear the tone I know what to do. I have a studio at home and the office, so music is part of me as well as acting. It’s a passion I have that is why I put out the hits, that is why most of the artistes come around me because they know that I am a hit maker.

You have acted with top Hollywood stars; can we know the movies you starred in?

Well I acted in Third World Cop, Training Day, Mission Impossible, Exit Wounds, Tears of the Sun with Bruce Willis, Bourne Identity with Mark Damond. I got a new one I just did, Street Money with The Game, Wyclef, Tyrese and so many stars it is supposed to be premiered in August by Universal Pictures.

You were with 50cents the last time he came and witnessed the incident with Eeedris; we heard you were on the same plane with them, how do you get to relate with these top American stars?

Those are my colleagues, like in America we show each other love. You know once you are good, we don't need no snitch around, so when you keep it real these guys will want to hang with you. Like the incident of 50cent and Eedris I was around I came with 50, we tried to quash everything but it is all good, after then The Game and 50cent had beef and we quashed it as well between Blackwallstreet and G-Unit, you know we still run the street.

Blackwallstreet is now the big name when it comes to top shows and concerts in Abuja. What concert should we expect next?

Basically in Abuja anything that has to do with entertainment and shows has to be through Blackwallstreet and Avatar and for the single fact that we show the artistes love, not when the artiste tells you do this for me and you steal their money and use them like slaves, that is why I am not just a promoter I am an artiste as well so I know what it takes, you don't take the artiste’s money and tell them stories like what other people do, we show love and respect to all the artistes that come through our stable.

Do you have plans of shooting a movie in Nigeria?

Yes by November we will be on set, the story is done and it is centered around Nigerian and American musicians, all the characters will be musicians; it is going to be a big project, something new.

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?

Any music that is good, I enjoy Hip hop, RnB, Reggae and even Juju like my dad's stuff (King Sunny Ade). I love it because it is not easy to make music, it’s not easy to even sing nonsense like what Terry G said; I sing nonsense to make sense and it got me money. You know he just bought a brand new Range Rover, so if the nonsense makes you money go ahead and do it. When they see you are doing well they will know.

A lot of people don't know you are Sunny Ade's son, how does that add to your game?

You know Sunny Ade got his own name and I got my name as well. Few people know but at the same time I try to deny it because I don't want people to deal with me as Sunny Ade's son. I want people to deal with me as me, I don't think we use Sunny Ade to collect money in the bank, but if they do you can call me Sunny Ade's son so I can go get the Bank money (long laugh). Like rumors go around that I spend Sunny Ade's Money. I spend my own money. They can go check the records for me to produce it costs 850 thousand dollars for me to put my hand on the keyboard, so calculate that in Naira so I don't need to talk much.

You have any last words to say?
Well I want to thank everybody that is supporting my carrier, and everything I do. People still talk and it is because I am relevant. Like I said in Abuja any top concert that is going to be a big and good one has to be Blackwallstreet and Avatar. I love and appreciate everyone and a big shout out to Seemo and the Garki Gazette.ooooosheeey!!

Snoop Lion Excommunicated From The Rastafari Community

Snoop Lion excommunicated from the Rastafari Community, according to Bunny Wailer! Bunny has always had his doubts about  Snoop Lion ‘s intent and now his skepticism has taken an even stronger stance, that of excommunication. The news was broken via his  Facebook  profile and via  press release . Recently Snoop Lion has struggled to convince the Rastafari and Reggae community that he is sincere about his profession of, and transition to the faith, principles and beliefs of Rastafari. Most doubtful is Bunny Wailer the only living member of the original Wailer. ‘ Excommunication is a religious censure used to deprive, suspend, or limit membership in a religious community or to restrict certain rights within it. Some groups use the term disfellowship instead, ‘ stated Bunny’s official release. With that said, this would surely deprive Snoop Lion from direct contact to some elders within the Rastafarian community also, access to vital information and place of worship. Let us see
