A 20-year-old man, Samuel Olamilekan, said to be undergoing a pastoral training in a Cherubim and Seraphin Church has been arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate’s court on a three count charge of assault, extortion and having canal knowledge of two teenagers from one family without their consent.
While presenting the prosecution case, the police prosecutor, Inspector Rachael Williams, told the court that the accused claimed that he had a vision for the girls. He said that they had unfamiliar spirit (Emere) and asked them to see him so that he could cast out the spirit from them.
However, when the girls got there, Olamilekan allegedly assaulted them by beating them with broom and palm fronds supposedly to cast out the unfamiliar spirit in them.
Also, Olamilekan was accused of obtaining by false pretext, the sum of N4,000 from them, supposedly to buy candles to pray for them in order to cast out the unfamiliar spirit.
The offense was allegedly committed on August 25, 2012 at about 10:00pm in the Ikeja area of Lagos.
The accused has pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The presiding magistrate, Olagbegi Adelabu, ordered the defendant to be remanded in prison custody till further hearing.
