Father Found Hanged After Wife And Twin Daughters, 13, Discovered Dead Nearby

Detectives from Scotland Yard's Homicide and Major Crime Command are carrying out the investigation into the death of a family A father has been found hanging near a reservoir after the bodies of his two twin teenage daughters and their mother were found in a property nearby. Officers attended a house in Grove Road in Chadwell Heath, east London, on Monday evening after concerns were raised about the welfare of the residents but there was no response and no sign of any disturbance. However they returned on Tuesday lunchtime and after forcing their way in, they found the bodies of the mother, believed to be aged 37, and twin daughters, aged 13. The 45-year-old father, who had been reported missing from the address, was found hanged close to Woodford Reservoir in Walthamstow, north east London, on Wednesday morning. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from Scotland Yard's Homicide and Major Crime Command are carrying out the investigation into the death of a family. Police said formal identification has not taken place and next of kin had not been informed. But a police spokesman said detectives believed they knew the identity of the deceased and believed their relationship to be mother, father and twin daughters. Post-mortem examinations were due to begin on Wednesday afternoon. A police spokesman said while they would not speculate on cause of death, the mother and daughters showed no sign of visible injuries. It is understood the family were last seen on Sunday 10 May. Detective Superintendent Kenny McDonald, who is overseeing the investigation from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "At this stage we are awaiting the outcome of the post-mortems to confirm cause of death, which will provide further evidence of what has taken place inside the house at Grove Road. "However, at this stage in our ongoing investigation we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths. "We are making extensive enquiries to trace next of kin, who we believe to be outside of the UK."
