Cops talking to a woman on the ledge of a balcony today in Midtown Manhattan
A woman who threatened to jump from a Midtown building was talked down by police this morning, authorities said.
She began threatening to jump from the ledge of a balcony on the 20th floor of 112 West 38th Street, near Sixth Avenue, at 7:50 a.m., according to witnesses and authorities.
She could be seen texting and gesturing angrily. Police set up a large air bag on the street.
Two ESU cops talked her down from the ledge, and then three cops tackled her on the balcony, according to a police source.
"Everything went according to plan," said the source. "There were two officers who talked her down. It went excellently."
The woman, whom cops said is middle-aged, was taken to Roosevelt Hospital in an ambulance shortly before 9:30 a.m.
