Nigeria’s President Goodluck Jonathan has been appointed as a co-chair of the United Nation’s Commission on Life-Saving Commodities for Women and Children.
The commission, launched in March this year is designed to ensure that women and children have medical and other supplies to protect them from preventable diseases.
This was disclosed by Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Zainab Maina last Friday while declaring open a national Workshop on Reduction of Maternal and Infant Mortality organized by the National Centre for Women Development in collaboration with the Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in Abuja.
