Controversies trailed the news released on Dangote’s website on Thursday’ regarding what it had considered a genuine offer to the Nigerian youth who have been perpetually kept in an unimaginable condition of unemployment, when it declared its program on mass employment into the drivers section of the company.
The news published on the company website on behalf of the Chairman of the Dangote Group of Company, Alhaji Aliko Dangote on Thursaday was believed to have been a big slap and degrading to most Nigerian youth who felt insulted as a result of the offer. Even as some of the unemployed graduates who invaded dailypost facebook page rained abuses on Dangote for belittling the Nigerian youth, others stood their grounds in support of Dangote whom they had called their savior for coming out to their rescue when it appeared there was no hope for young graduates in the country.
In a statement issued on Dangote’s website, it was stated that the scheme was targeted at creating drivers academy that will end up creating further jobs for Nigerian graduates in order to boost dangote’s transport operations.
The statement further affirmed that Dangote would be recruiting 2000 unemployment graduates as part of it contribution to the nation’s economy.
Meanwhile mix reactions greeted Dangote’s gesture on dailypost facebook page on Thursday when hundreds of job seekers and concerned Nigerians condemned and backed the scheme. Some of the participants of the facebook discussions had vehemently expressed their anger over Dangote’s perception of Nigerian graduate, stating that he had little or no reservation for the status of the Nigerian graduates.
Responding to his action, one Suliemnan Haliru said “ Dangote is sick, seriously sick, employ your son first to set an example, then we will follow”
In a similar vein, Sunday Inyang said “ let him use expatriates and not our own graduates” Sky biodun said “this is a big slap on all Graduates and Nigerian youths.. I can’t laugh, how can a graduate turn a truck driver? Is that not madness or what do we call it? I weep for Nigerian youths”.
Expressing how terrible the issue of unemployment has become in Nigeria, Adefajo Olushola Michael said “Why can’t he employ the graduate in his family as a driver I don’t blame him who is a malam because he doesn’t know what it takes to go to school.
However, a section of Nigerians had reacted in the contrary, affirming that Dangote was only trying to fight against unemployment in the land, and prayed to God to protect him as he continues to create jobs for the youth.

According to Oluniyi Victor, Dangote tried his best to feed unemployed graduates, their families and to care for their needs, but most of our politicians are just out there to eat our money and to enslave most of us.
