Uyo Stadium, A Gift To The Youths – Ebong

The newly constructed and soon to be commissioned 30,000 seater Uyo stadium is a gift to the youth of Akwa Ibom in particular and Nigeria in general. PHOTO: Tony Ubani He was all praise for the visionary leadership of His Excellency the Executive Governor of the state Dr Godswill Akpabio whose uncommon transformation agenda has become a legendary trademark world wide when governance is the topic of discussion. Earlier, Architect Ime Ekpo project consultant who took the sports writers round the facility explained that it compared favourably with any of its kind in the world. He spoke about the training pitch annex, the eight lane Olympic sized track and revealed that already the state is in custody of an IAAF certification to host any world class track and field event. He said outside perhaps the Abuja national stadium size wise, “ this was the best stadium in the land” Facilities in the stadium include hospitality suites, bullet proof state box that sits 70, state of the art dressing rooms, sick bay and enough parking spaces.
