Pandemonium struck Nukkai area of the capital city of Taraba state, Jalingo, on March 23, 2014, Sunday, when two pastors were arrested for reportedly teaming up with some church members to beat up a fellow pastor to stupor.
According Nigerian Eye, a new pastor, who was placed in charge of the UMCN Nukkai, reported for duty in the morning, but met strong resistance.
The pastors and some of the church members did not give him a warm welcome.
They opposed the new pastor and reportedly left him unconscious.
The beaten pastor was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo, where he is currently receiving treatment.
The local police arrived at the scene of the incident and nabbed two pastors of the church for interrogation.
The church members got infuriated by this action, mobilized crowds for a protest at the Jalingo Divisional Police Station.
The police used teargas to disperse the worshippers, arrested the most aggressive ones.
The incident has been also confired by the Police Public Relations Officer in Taraba State, Assistant Superintendent Joseph Kwajji. He added that the case is currently under investigation.
