ABUJA—As part of ongoing measures towards boosting the morale of Police officers in the face of daunting security challenges confronting the nation and rewarding those that have excelled in their assigned roles, Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar has ordered the promotion of 24, 118 officers.
According to a statement signed by the Force Public Relations officer, CSP Frank Mba, one Commissioner of Police was promoted to Assistant Inspector General of Police; six Deputy Commissioners of Police promoted to substantive Commissioners of Police and seven Assistant Commissioners of Police promoted to Deputy Commissioners of Police.
Others are seven Chief Superintendents of Police promoted to Assistant Commissioners of Police, 242 Superintendents of Police promoted CSPs and 424 DSPs promoted to Superintendents of Police.
Also, 715 Assistant Superintendents of Police were promoted to DSPs, 5, 115 Inspectors promoted to Assistant Superintendents of Police, 55 Senior Inspectors promoted to Principal Inspectors and 525 Inspectors promoted to Senior Inspectors.
2, 671 Sergeants were promoted to Inspectors, 2, 876 Corporals were promoted to Sergeants and 11, 474 Police Constables promoted to Corporals.
Meanwhile, the IGP has charged the newly promoted officers to see their elevation as a mark of additional responsibility and a call to rededicate themselves to their professional calling.
