Late Madam Rose Monday Essien who died in the early hour of 30th June 2013 at the General Hospital, Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State was finally led to rest at her home town, Ukan Akama, Edemaya in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area of the State on 23rd November 2013. Late Madam Rose Essien was the mother of the current President of Edemaya Youth Movement, Engr. Dominic Monday Essien who is also a strong member of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State. She died at the age of 77 years. Late Madam Rose Monday Essien was born to Late Chief Tom Ayat Udodok Ukemakata family from Ute community in Ukan, Edemaya, Ikot Abasi LGA in the year 1936. Amongst the dignitaries that graced the ceremony was Obong Ekere, the father of the former Deputy Governor of the State, Mr. Nsima Ekere.
Late Madam Essien is survived by three (3) sons, 2 daughters in-law, 9 grand children and others too numerous to mention, among them are Akan Essien Ubong (CNTM, CNP) JP, son; Engr. Dominic Monday, son and Engr. Itohowo Essien, son.
