Thirty seven moslem northern members of Parliament of PDP defected to
APC, all to guarantee northern Moslem President in 2015. Although I
believe that In spite of all odds, PGEJ must triumph. However, I must
say that this gang up does not tell well of our polity and political
development.
What else does the north want more than "islamizing" Nigeria? If you are in doubt? What did Othsman Dan Fodio do? Who brought Sharia into Nigeria and why Sharia in the first place? Who enlisted Nigeria into IOC? Who funded Islamic Banking in Nigeria and why? Why did the northern elites accommodate BH while the Niger Deltans rejected Militia? What are the demands of BH? Why can't a christen governor govern Kaduna? Why is it an abomination for christian to govern any state in the north including Kwara and Kogi? Why the killings in Jos?
If a President from the Niger Delta cant have the cooperation of the northern Moslems, the north equally should not expect their cooperation.
The precedence northern moslem has been creating in our political arena since independence cannot be allowed to continue otherwise it will consume Nigeria.
As BH has created so much insecurity in
Nigeria without the condemnation of Northern moslem elites so shall the militant hold the economic life of Nigeria to ransom when para-adventure a northern Moslem candidate emerges as President. No tribe owns the monopoly of violence. As one good turn deserves another, equally one bad turn deserves another.
Let us remind ourselves that it was northern moslem dominance that led to the first Corp that "ushered" in the civil war and General Aguiyi Ironsi was in fact murdered by same moslem soldiers in the military. Regrettably, here we are after four decades of the civil war, the signs are everywhere!
I am completely appalled by this show of political dominance by the Moslem. This ugly situation should not have raised it's head at this age and time when leadership is judged by performance and not religion or tribal bigotry. Therefore, for the benefit of peace and tranquility and most importantly one indivisible Nigeria, it is important that any form of dominance must be eschewed from all quarters while PGEJ is given the required cooperation to preside over this country and contest for the second tenure without any hinderance.
