If
information at our disposal is anything to go by, then, the Secretary
to the State Government, Mr. Udom Emmanuel should not believe that the
razzmatazz of yesterday’s thanksgiving was an endorsement for his
rumoured 2015 governorship ambition, The Radar can report.
This
is as new facts emerged over the weekend that his boss, Governor
Godswill Akpabio is flying a kite with him (Emmanuel), while he
(Governor) is said to be holding secret discussions with some Oron
indigenes in his cabinet including the Attorney-General, Barr. Ekpeyong
Ntekim and the commissioner for Rural Development, Barr. Effiong Abia, a
top government official who pleaded strictest anonymity has disclosed.
The Radar
gathered authoritatively from other impeccable sources close to Akpabio
in the Presidency that the SSG is only going to be used as pawn on a
chess board apparently to deceive the Ibibios into believing that one of
their sons will become the next governor.
Akpabio, whom The Radar
gathered is believed to be dribbling the Ibibios, is alleged to have
severally introduced these Oron sons to some prominent politicians in
Abuja as his would-be successor.
Our
sources hinted that the recent media activities by the Oron people on
both electronic and print media is not unconnected with the suggestion
said to have been given by the governor that they should make
sufficient noise to win public sympathy and support.
Akpabio, The Radar
was reliably informed told stakeholders from Oron extraction last year
in the Governor’s Lodge that as someone from a minority tribe, he was in
sympathy with the Oron nation being another minority tribe and he would
advise them to make sufficient noise to attract public sympathy to their
course of producing the next governor.
As
if playing the governor’s card, the former Commissioner for Education,
Dr. Effiong Edunam who had earlier in an interview with this paper,
again on Friday last week, on Channels Television Sunrise daily, a live
programme of the station, re-echoed that Akwa Ibom will sorry for
itself, if Oron does not produce the next
governor in 2015.
He
further stated that ethnic zoning of political office was a necessary
ingredient in the democratic processes in Nigeria, adding that all that
Akpabio is said to have achieved in the state as governor, would be a
nullity if at the end of his tenure, he fails to hand over to Oron man, a
minority ethnic group to succeed him.Source: The Radar
