Pastor Raphael Chibueze of one of the Pentecostal Churches in Enugu has urged an Ogui Customary Court in Enugu to dissolve his six-year-old marriage to Uchenna for alleged adultery.
Chibueze told the court on Tuesday that the plea for dissolution followed her “waywardness, dishonesty, quarrelsomeness and threat to his life”.
He said his wife was sexually insatiable, adding that it had been hell living with her.
“On a certain day, I refused to sleep with her when she requested because I was tired after returning from work and she got angry,” he said.
“I pleaded with her to leave it for the next day but she refused, saying that she can only get pregnant when she wants.”
Chibueze also accused his wife of attending a ‘white garment’ church from which she allegedly brought in spiritual items to their home.
He said his wife lost three pregnancies between 2009 and 2011, alleging that she was the one aborting them.
Chibueze told the court that it was the wish of every couple to have children but for his wife it was the opposite.
“I told her to stop attending such churches and that she should stop bringing in those items because I do not want that kind of prayer in my house,’’ he said.
He added that she had packed all their property and left the house to an unknown destination.
Narrating her own experience, Uchenna alleged that her husband was always beating her, claiming that he did not provide enough money for the upkeep of their only child, Favour.
Uchenna said she left the house when she discovered that her husband wanted to use her for money ritual.
The presiding court officer, Felix Agwu, adjourned the case to August 13 to enable Chibueze to complete his examination at the Abraham Adesanya Polytechnic in Ogun as he requested.
