Success stories showcase extension
program efforts. In a time of greater demand for accountability and performance
measurement, success stories provide a qualitative measure of extension program
success. From the accountability standpoint, success stories serve as
readily available piece of information for program impact. In addition, they
also serve as a communication and marketing tool and also improving the
communication and/or skills of extension agents.
This is what happened on
Saturday at No. 106 Enerhen Road, Effurun, Warri as Gold Link Multipurpose Cooperative
Society, owners of New Golden Pastures Micro Finance Bank Limited, held their 7th
Annual General Meeting to present a review of their performance in the
financial year ended 31st December 2012.

The President, Mr.
Christopher Osemene, in his presentation said that Gold Link Multipurpose
Cooperative Society started in July 2005 with 20 members and has today grown to
about 70 active members. He said further
that the cooperative consistent performance all through the years has made Gold
Link Multipurpose Cooperative Society a
high flyer in terms of its income and balance sheet growth. Mr. Osemene said that their balance sheet
grew from N24m in 2011 to N27.5m in 2012. While income for the
period grew from N2.7m to N3.3m representing a 22% increase from the
previous year.
The President further hinted that Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) successfully carried out its first Audit on their bank, New Golden Pastures Micro Finance Bank located at Warri/Sapele Road by 1st Marine Gate junction, Warri. And that Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has at its maiden examination given the bank a Standard rating.
