Premier League - Paper Round: Arsenal, United battle for Zaha

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha will choose between Arsenal and Manchester United as the two Premier League clubs do battle for his signature.

It is billed in the papers as a straight head-to-head scrap between Arsenal and United to secure a deal for the 20-year-old with both clubs keen to add to their firepower.
The Daily Mirror believes that Arsenal will seek to offload Andrey Arshavin as soon as the transfer window opens in January to reduce their wage bill, with the intention of bringing in Zaha as a pacy replacement.
According to the Daily Mail, the fee will be around £10 million for the Palace winger and Sir Alex Ferguson is even willing to allow him to spend the remainder of the season on loan at Selhurst Park if United get their man.
The paper cites the deal made with Fulham for Chris Smalling back in 2010 when United bought the defender for £8m and allowed him to see out the rest of the campaign at Craven Cottage before making the move.
The stakes are increasingly high for Arsene Wenger to sign Zaha, given that the Daily Mail confirms United, Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool are all poised to move for winger, and wannabe forward, Theo Walcott.
Meanwhile, Frank Lampard is ready to become David Beckham’s replacement at Los Angeles Galaxy, according to the Daily Mirror.
The Chelsea midfielder has apparently accepted that his Chelsea days are over after 12 years at the end of the season, and he is believed to be in advanced talks with the MLS club regarding a move.
And finally, The Sun reports that Newcastle striker Demba Ba has snubbed an offer of £80,000-a-week from QPR.
Ba is understood to be waiting out for a move to a bigger Premier League club, with the paper revealing that Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham are all in the running for the 27-year-old forward.
