The Central Bank Governor, Mallam Lamido Sanusi, on Wednesday almost caused confusion at the central bank’s headquarters in Abuja when he appeared in his traditional chieftaincy attire. Most staff who were taken unaware by his outfit almost ran for dear lives when the usual smart looking governor stormed the office in a long regalia, with face almost covered, hardly before they could recognize their boss.
It was reported last Sunday on daily post that Sanusi was installed as the Dan Majen of Kano by the Emir of Kano Ado Bayero on Saturday. Sanusi who had been mourning for the death of his staff who died in the ill-fated Dana plane that crashed in Lagos state had gone to Kano on Saturday for the installation from where he had attended another event in Abuja on Wednesday, before breezing into the Apex Bank, probably to check one or two things before leaving .
Sources had revealed to our correspondent that top officials of the Central Bank had received Sanuai in a special way for resuming work in the traditional chief attire.
The bank had since the Dana plane crash been in a mourning mood as it lost eight of its staff in the crash.
The eight staff who departed the Apex Bank are Mr Amiaka Rapheal (Senior Manager), Mrs Antoniah Attuh (Senior Manager); Mr. Bamaiyi Adamu (Senior Supervisor); Mrs Falmata Mohammed (Assistant Director) and Mr. Ibrahim Yusuf (Principal Manager).
Others include Mr. Kim Norris (Special Adviser to the Governor on Banking Supervision), Mr Mutihir (Deputy Manager) and Mr. Samuel Mbong (Senior Manager).
It was noted by our source that even as the Central Bank Governor had left the office, members of staff were still seen discussing the surprise appearance of their boss on a chieftaincy attire.
