On Thurday July 17th another protest held in Nasarawa State, after the state's House of Assembly insisted on its plan to impeach the Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura over accusations of financial gross misconduct, awards of bloated contracts and violation of constitution.
This second anti- impeachment protest in the state capital, Lafia, comes on the heels of the one held the previous day (Wednesday), and sadly it reportedly lead to death of three people.
The entire city of Lafia was thrown into commotion as the protesters blocked major roads destroying as they went. They took off from the business district area, marching along Doma road and proceeded to the emir’s palace where they expressed their opposition to the planned sack move against Al-Makura by the state Assembly. The Monarchy promised the protesters to mediate between the legislative house and the Governor.
