The Lagos State University (LASU) has commenced an indefinite strike to force the authorities to meet three of their core demands.
Daily Trust reports that the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) LASU chapter, Dr Adekunle Idris, announced this decision at a press conference.
"We are using this opportunity to inform the academic community and the good people of Lagos State that from today (Tuesday), we the academic staff members of Lagos State University are withdrawing our services to embark on a total, comprehensive and indefinite strike until the three core demands of our union are completely met. It is a sad decision we are compelled to take and we have taken it with very sense of responsibility.
"We are well prepared for the usual phases of engagement with authorities in Nigeria: denial, blackmail and finally return to the altar of the truth."
ASUU recently concluded a five-month strike.
