Nigerian commercial sex worker found dead in Scotland, 25-year-old man charged in connection with her death

Nigerian-born Jessica McGraa was found dead on Friday, February 12 and it has emerged she was on a working trip to Scotland from her home in London. A 25-year-old man appeared in court yesterday, February 17, over her death as her troubled lifestyle was laid bare. McGraa, 36, was found dead at a flat in the city’s Union Terrace and yesterday, it emerged that she left her young son at her home in London to sell sex in the city on a two-day trip. A close friend told the Scottish Sun: "I thought she was a dancer in clubs – I had no idea what was really going on. But it doesn’t change my opinion of her. NFF appoint Florence Omagbemi as new interim coach of Super Falcons

Former Nigerian Female football team player Florence Omagbemi has been appointed as the new interim coach of the Super Falcons pending the signing of a new foreign coach by the Nigerian Football Federation. The Super Falcons, who are the champions of Africa will begin their qualification campaign for the 2016 African Women’s Championship in Cameroon in November, and the NFF have moved to ensure the Falcons prepare adequately for the tournament with Omagbemi's appointment. Najatu Muhammad, a staunch supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari, has rejected her appointment as the chairperson of the governing council of the Federal University, Dutse (FUD). The Northern activist, who is also an associate of the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, in a quarter-page newspaper advert published by a National Newspaper, rejected the appointment, stressing that she was not consulted. Buhari Sacks Directors-General Of NTA, NOA, NBC

The federal government has disengaged the heads of the six information-related parastatals under the ministry of information and culture. According to Segun Adeyemi, special adviser to Lai Mohammed, minister of information and culture, the minister announced the disengagement during a meeting he held with the chief executives of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Voice of Nigeria (VON), News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) on Monday. “The minister directed the disengaged chief executives to hand over to the most senior officials in their various establishments,” Adeyemi said. “He thanked them for their service to the nation and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavours. “The affected chief executives are the director-generals of NTA, Mr. Sola Omole; FRCN, Mr. Ladan Salihu; VON, Mr Sam Worlu; NOA, Mr. Mike Omeri; NBC, Mr. Emeka Mba and the managing d...

LASU Student Dies After Drinking Mixture Of Magic Moment, Vodka, Elliot, Orijin & Smirnoff Ice During Party

Gbadeyan Adesina has died after drinking a mixture of alcoholic drinks. The 22-year-old and a friend Oladipupo reportedly mixed Magic Moment, Vodka, Elliot, Orijin and Smirnoff Ice together and drank it during a party organized by the History Department of the institution at Treasure Palace Hotel in Igando Lagos. Minutes after drinking the mixture, the two started to vomit and slumped. They were rushed to Igando general Hospital where Gbadeyan died while the doctors were battling to save Oladipupo. Lagos Police spokesperson warned youths to avoid drinking mixture of alcoholic drinks because it not safe.

'Rancour' In Boko Haram Over Attacks On IDP Camps

The recent attacks on the camps of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) have created rancour within the rank and file of the Boko Haram sect, Salkida Ahmad, the Nigerian journalist known to have access to commanders of the group, has said. The latest of such attacks led to the loss of more than 60 lives in Dikwa, a town in Borno state. Suicide bombers struck just at the time occupants of the camp were queuing up for food. In a report on Salkida.com, Ahmad quoted a source within the group as saying that many Boko Haram leaders were silently grumbling and others openly voicing their opposition to the elusive Abubakar Shekau over these “unexplained attacks on the innocent”. The source, according to Ahmad, said the only explanation given for these attacks was that the people had run to government-held territories. Fayose: FG using DSS to frustrate Aluko’s trial

Ayodele Fayose, Ekiti state governor, has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of shielding Temitope Aluko, secretary of the Ekiti chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), from facing trial. A magistrate court in Ekiti had ordered the arrest of Aluko over allegation of perjury leveled against him by the state government. Aluko had told journalists in Abuja that the last governorship election in Ekiti was rigged in favour of the PDP. He claimed that former President Goodluck Jonathan released $37 million for the election, saying Musiliu Obanikoro, former minister of state for defence, was the one who brought the money. Subsequently, the DSS invited Aluko to its headquarters in Abuja, where he was quizzed. But Fayose has described the interrogation as “the use of an agency of government to prevent somebody that has breached the law of the land from prosecution”.
