BOKO HARAM: Dialogue still remains the best option – NSA

THE newly appointed National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki, rtd, has said that dialogue with the members Jamaatul Ahlis Sunnah lid Daawa wal Jihad popularly known as  Boko Haram  still remains the best option for peace to be restored to the North and other parts of the country. Dasuki spoke when he paid a courtesy call on the Borno State Governor Alhaji Kashim Shettima at the Government House, Maiduguri yesterday even as 12 unidentified gunmen Thursday night invaded Gulak, headquarters of Madagali and Mubi Local Government Areas in Adamawa State, killing about four policemen, including three Inspectors and a Corporal after looting the police armoury. I may get married again by December – Okotie

Lagos based pastor, Pastor Chris Okotie has revealed to some of his close friends that he may get married  in December, Daily Post learnt yesterday. Okotie, a former Presidential candidate of Fresh Democratic Party (FDP), recently ended his four year-old marriage with his wife, Stephanie due to what he termed as “irreconcilable differences”. Pastor Okotie, who was said to have opened up that he fell for his estrange wife’s beauty without considering other important virtues, is now planning to get married again by December. It was gathered that his reason is because the Bible said it’s not good for a man to be alone. It would be recalled that Pastor Okotie separated from his first wife, Tyna, after 17 years of marriage. The news of the break up came as a shock to many since it was highly celebrated. They had their honey moon in Dubai, London and France for some weeks.

$620,000 bribe: Lawan tenders evidence to prove innocence before Reps committee

There were indications yesterday that the suspended House of Representatives ad hoc committee Chairman on Fuel Subsidy, Hon. Farouk Lawan may shock Nigerians with an evidence to proof that he is innocence on the alleged $620,000 bribe between him and chairman Zenon oil, Mr. Femi Otedola. Already, the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges had on Thursday commenced a proper investigation on the bribery allegation issue at the House of Representative. Lawan, was said to have arrived the scene of the investigation around 1.06pm. It was gathered that Lawan cooperated with the committee members and also tender necessary evidence to proof that he was accused wrongly on the alleged bribery matter. It will be recalled that on several ocassion, the embatlled Lawmaker had confessed to have collected the foreign currency money from Otedola, but claimed it was not a bribe and vowed that he would be vindicated at the end of the investigation. R-E-V-E-A-L-E-D: More people are secretly practising homosexuality in Nigeria

Although, the story of homosexuality in Nigeria is gradually becoming unpopular as those who indulge in such act are not bold to openly declare their identities, the fact still remains that homosexuality is being practised in some parts of the world including Nigeria. Two members of one of the ruling royal families in Ogun State suspected to be armed robbers met their waterloo last Sunday when men of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, in Ogun State intercepted them with blood-stained jeep that was recently robbed in Lagos. Nemesis caught up with the two  suspects identified as, Ademola Adeniyi and Ajayi Adesina after they allegedly offered the sum of N500,000 to the customs officers to evade arrest shortly after a robbery operation at 5am.  Their attempts were however rebuffed by the men of the Customs who insisted that they must face the music. UN Aims to Strengthen Nigeria’s Alternative Energy Program with N 320 million Injection

THE United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has deposited $2 million with the Bank of Industry, to encourage even private participation and local industries working on renewable energy projects. The United Nations Resident Coordinator, Daouda Toure, made the disclosure in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, yesterday. Toure, who is also the UNDP Resident Representative, said that beside renewable energy, the agency was also looking at other sources, such as biomass and solar energy. “We are not only looking at renewable energy but at all the potential we have in Africa, be it in terms of biomass, solar energy, there is a huge potential that is still very much in tab. “Energy efficiency programme is an important programme to all of us and making use of energy efficiently will allow more coverage with what we already have,” he said. Cassava Exports to China to fetch FG $ 136 million

NIGERIA’s economic diversification drive may inch towards realisation soon, with plan by Federal Government to export one million tonnes of cassava chips to China, beginning from this month. The export business is expected to bouy the nation’s earnings by $136 million (N22 billion). Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwunmi Adeshina made this disclosure in Umuahia, Abia State, on Wednesday, during the inauguration of the Growth Enhancement Support (GES) scheme, a critical component of the Agricultural Transformation Agenda. The new National Security Adviser (NSA), Col Sambo Dasuki (Rtd) has been given a task by President Goodluck Jonathan to ensure that Boko Haram sect’s menace is end before the beginning of Ramadan – the Islamic Holy month. Cult clash claims five lives in Benue

Fewer days after over ten persons were killed in a communal clash that broke out between  Benue and Ebonyi communities, no fewer than five persons were killed yesterday when suspected cult groups clashed at the Fidei Polytechnic, Gboko, in Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State. The clash, Dailypost gathered started on the campus on Wednesday evening when one of the groups claimed that the girlfriend of one of its members was seen in company of a member of another cult group. The case turned bloody at the wee hours of Thursday with students scampering for safety These forced the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr. E. C. Ekulide, announced the closure of the institution, and directed the students to keep away from the campus till further notice. Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for the command, ASP Alaribe Ejike, confirmed the incident, the state’s Commissioner of Police, John Katso, has already deployed anti riot squad to the school to calm the situation.

Oil marketers panic over fresh subsidy report

ABUJA—The new report on fuel subsidy utilisation by the Aigboje Aig-Imokhuede Committee is creating panic among petroleum products marketers, industry sources have revealed. The report, which was submitted to the Presidency last Friday, as learnt, was based on a pain-staking forensic examination of all claims made by the marketers and receipts, which had indicted several major oil marketing companies. Industry sources said the report recommended that those found to have received payments for products they did not import be made to refund such money in addition to being blacklisted by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA. Although the Presidency is said to be keeping the report secretely, it was learnt that many of the oil companies approved by PPPRA for the third quarter fuel import were indicted in the report, for bogus claims.
